The Special Adviser to the Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District on Media and Publicity, Pastor Ronald Okechukwu Okorie, has described the performance of Senator Professor Anthony Okorie Ani at the National Assembly as the most outstanding in the history of the zone. Pastor Okorie made this assertion while addressing journalists in his hometown of Onicha Igboeze, Onicha Local Government Area, where he highlighted the lawmaker’s remarkable legislative activities since assuming office. He disclosed that Senator Ani has already sponsored key bills currently before the Senate, including the Bill for an Act to establish the Nigeria Institute for Apprenticeship and Vocational Studies and the National Agency for Vehicles Manufacturing in Nigeria, both of which have successfully passed first reading. According to him, the senator has also sponsored other important bills aimed at national development, such as a Bill to criminalise the chemical ripening of fruits in order to protect public health, and another to establish a Federal University of Mining and Geosciences to boost technical education and resource development. “My boss is exceptionally gifted in legislative work,” Pastor Okorie said. “Beyond these bills, he also sponsored a motion urging the Federal Government to immortalise the late Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu in recognition of his immense contributions to Nigeria.” He further revealed that Senator Ani recently moved a motion calling on the Federal Government to urgently review the conditions of service of university lecturers as part of efforts to stem the growing tide of brain drain in the country. “Senator Ani is deeply concerned about the increasing emigration of highly trained professionals. Improving the welfare of lecturers will help retain our best minds and strengthen our educational system,” he added. Pastor Okorie also commended the senator for his impact at the grassroots, noting that he has facilitated employment opportunities for many constituents, provided various empowerment programmes, and distributed valuable items to support livelihoods across Ebonyi South. He said the combination of strong legislative performance and people-centred initiatives has positioned Senator Ani as a shining example of effective representation in the National Assembly.
