2027: Women’s NGO Endorses Nwifuru, Tinubu for Second Terms, Urges Voter Registration
A women-focused non-governmental organisation, Home Builders Support Group, has endorsed the reelection of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second tenures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Saturday, February 7, 2026, during a sensitisation and road walk exercise in Abakaliki aimed at encouraging citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) through ongoing voter e-registration.
Speaking during the event, the National President of the group, Mrs. Sarah Onyema, said the initiative was designed to mobilise public support and raise awareness on the importance of civic participation through voter registration.
According to her, Governor Nwifuru’s administration has impacted various sectors of life in Ebonyi State, citing the payment of accumulated gratuities and pensions, award of scholarships, and revitalisation of general hospitals among the achievements that informed the group’s endorsement.
“The essence of the event is to arouse public interest in supporting Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in 2027 by encouraging eligible voters to obtain their PVCs through e-registration,” Onyema said.
“He has restored peace across communities such as Ezillo, Effium and Abaomege, among others. In a nutshell, he has done a lot and deserves a second tenure.”
She also commended the governor for promoting women into leadership positions, including the deputy governor, vice chairpersons across the thirteen local government areas, and other key roles.
Onyema applauded the unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) nationwide and appreciated the founder and sponsor of the group, Chief Chibuike Orogwu, noting the organisation’s continued support for the party.
Also speaking, the Deputy National Coordinator, Mrs. Sophie Shem, and the South East Coordinator, Mrs. Ezagbo Adaeze, said the current administrations at both state and federal levels had given more attention to women’s inclusion than previous governments, urging sustained support across the federation.
Representing the APC Ebonyi State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the State Women Leader, Mrs. Queendaline Igwe, commended the group’s active participation in politics and assured them of the party’s backing.
“Any political structure that neglects women risks losing elections because women play vital roles at polling units,” she said, while praising the group’s road walk across major streets of Abakaliki as a demonstration of commitment.
She further urged members to remain consistent, transparent and united in their pursuit of good governance.
The event featured a road walk which commenced at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium and moved through major parts of Abakaliki, including St. Margaret Umahi International Market, drawing participation from a large number of women and supporters.
