Breaking: Gunmen Abduct Father of Former Ebonyi Deputy Governor In Ikwo

Chief Francis Igwe, father of former Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, has been abducted by suspected gunmen in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
The elderly Igwe was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday morning while on his way to church in Ndufu-Alike community, located in Ikwo LGA. Sources in the area disclosed that the victim was driving to attend service when armed men riding on a motorcycle intercepted his vehicle. The assailants were said to have double-crossed him, forced him out of his car, and whisked him away on their motorcycle to an undisclosed location. The incident has heightened tension within the community, as residents expressed concern over the rising cases of insecurity in the area.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Sunday Nwankwo, said the council was already collaborating with security agencies to gather necessary information and ensure the safe rescue of the victim. Confirming the incident, the Ebonyi State command police spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, stated that operatives of the Command have been deployed to the area for a rescue operation. “Yes, we are aware of the kidnapping incident this morning. Our men have been deployed to the area to ensure he’s rescued unhurt,” Ukandu said.
