Gov. Nwifuru Commiserates With Ex-Deputy Governor Over Murder of Father

The Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru has commiserated with the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Barr. Kelechi Igwe, over the abduction and killing of his father, the traditional ruler of Ndufu-Alike community, Eze Francis Igwe.
The monarch was reportedly abducted by gunmen on Sunday while on his way to church. Governor Nwifuru, who spoke on Friday during a condolence visit to the palace of the late royal father, charged security agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the abduction and murder of the traditional ruler.
The governor cancelled the scheduled State Executive Council meeting and led members of the council to the monarch’s palace to sympathise with the bereaved family. He disclosed that some suspects had already been arrested by the police in connection with the crime and assured that all those involved would be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. Nwifuru described the slain monarch as an accomplished elder statesman and courageous leader who served his people with dedication and commitment. While praying for the repose of the soul of the royal father, the governor urged the immediate family and the entire Ikwo Noyo clan to bear the loss with fortitude.
Responding on behalf of the family, the eldest son of the late monarch and former Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Barr. Kelechi Igwe, appreciated the efforts made by the governor and security agencies to rescue their father from the hands of his abductors. “Though our father is not here today to appreciate your efforts, his entire family will remain eternally grateful for the support and commitment shown during the search for him,” Igwe said.
Our correspondent learnt that angry mob has gone beserk setting ablaze one of the suspected persons and Alike Ikwo native who is allegedly involved in the kidnap incident.
