Just In: Igbeagu Communities Declare Nwifuru Sole Candidate For 2027 Governorship Race

‎ ‎ ‎The Igbeagu General Assembly,the umbrella body representing five newly created autonomous communities in the old Igbeagu area of Ebonyi State, has endorsed Governor Francis Nwifuru as its sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
‎ ‎The endorsement was contained in a communiqué presented by the Federal Commissioner representing Ebonyi State at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Nduka Awuregu, at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting held at Ndiokpoto, the headquarters of Igbeagu Development Centre. ‎
‎The motion for the endorsement was moved by the State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Richard Idike and was seconded by Special Assistant to the governor on Batching Plant, Kizito Nwenyi. ‎
‎Stakeholders said the decision was in recognition of the governor’s developmental achievements, including the creation of new autonomous communities, road construction, building of schools, and the ongoing construction of the Nwezenyi flyover. ‎ ‎Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Helen Aduga, described the endorsement as a demonstration of gratitude and urged the people to sustain their support for the governor’s second term bid.
‎ ‎Also, the Coordinator of Igbeagu Development Centre, Obinna Nwedu, called on residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them participate actively in the electoral process and support the governor’s re-election.
‎ ‎Earlier, the Chairman of Igbeagu Traditional Rulers Forum and traditional ruler of Nchoko Igbeagu Autonomous Community, Eze Simeon Nweze, highlighted the governor’s achievements and urged the people to rally round the administration.
‎ He also called for support for their daughter in the forthcoming local government chairmanship election. ‎
‎Other stakeholders at the meeting included Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Monday Nkwuda; Senior Lecturer at Ebonyi State University, Professor Joseph Nkwede; Town Union President of Ipfeigwe Autonomous Community, Linus Obeji; Commander of Neighbourhood Watch, Chiboy Nwenyi; APC Secretary in the local government, Cyril Ibeogu; President of Ebonyi/Cross River Peace Movement, Pascal Nwenyi; and FON Youth Movement leader, Igbeagu Ward 3, Pius Mbam all described governor Nwifuru as the best thing to had happened to Ebonyi and enjoined stakehders across the state to show sincere support to the governor come 2027.
The event was honoured by five traditional rulers of various communities, town union presidents,village heads, Ezes' cabinets, support group leaders, women groups among others.
