‎ ‎ ‎…Governor Nwifuru Commiserates Sudden Demise ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎The Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki has announced the death of its Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Nworie Chukwu, describing his passing as a profound loss to the Church and society. ‎ ‎The Vicar General, Rev.Fr. Oluwa Chukwu made the official announcement in statement issued on Saturday, calling on faithfuls to pray for the church. ‎ ‎Reacting to the development, Ebonyi State Governor, Francia Nwifuru expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the cleric, noting that his death marks the end of an era of spiritual guidance and moral leadership. ‎ ‎In a condolence message signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, the governor described Bishop Chukwu as a revered shepherd, whose life was marked by humility, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to the service of God and humanity. ‎ ‎The late Bishop, a native of Ededeagu Umuezeokohu in Ezza North Local Government Area, was praised for his commitment to peace, justice, unity, and the spiritual growth of the people. ‎ ‎The governor noted that Bishop Chukwu’s voice of wisdom and counsel would be greatly missed, especially in times of uncertainty. ‎ ‎He extended condolences on behalf of the government and people of Ebonyi State to the Catholic Church, including the Vatican, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, clergy, laity, and the family of the deceased. ‎ ‎While mourning his passing, the governor urged the faithful to take solace in the legacy of a life well spent in God’s service. ‎ ‎He prayed for the repose of the Bishop’s soul and for strength for all those affected by the loss. ‎ ‎Bishop Chukwu before his death was the Assistant Secretary to the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria,(CBCN). ‎
