Gov. Nwifuru Turning Ebonyi Into South-East Sports Hub, Lawmaker Says

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎The lawmaker representing Ebonyi North State Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Victor Chidi Nwoke, has commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for what he described as deliberate efforts to transform Ebonyi into a sports hub in the South-East.
‎ ‎Nwoke made the remarks while reacting to the ongoing South-East Basketball Tournament taking place in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital. ‎ ‎According to him, the governor's investment in sports development has continued to attract major sporting events to the state, while also creating opportunities for youths to showcase their talents and pursue professional careers.
‎ ‎He described Nwifuru's sports policies as visionary and youth-focused, noting that the administration has provided the necessary infrastructure and support needed to promote sporting excellence across the state. ‎ ‎The lawmaker said the hosting of the regional basketball tournament was a clear indication that Ebonyi has become a preferred destination for sporting activities in the South-East and thanked the State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon Richard Idike for helping the government to realize this vision. ‎
‎Nwoke further urged young people in the state to take advantage of the opportunities being created through sports, stressing that the sector remains a viable platform for youth empowerment, job creation and social development. ‎
‎He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly to supporting policies and programmes aimed at advancing sports and youth development in the state. ‎
