Ebonyi Commissioner Charges New Table Tennis Leadership To Revive Sports

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports,Hon. Richard Idike, has charged the leadership of the Ebonyi State Table Tennis Association to intensify efforts towards restoring the lost glory of the game in the state.
‎ Speaking while receiving the new leadership of the association in his office in Abakaliki, Hon. Idike described table tennis as one of the healthiest sporting activities and commended the executive for reviving the game.
‎ He urged the association to work diligently to attract sponsorships, noting that sports development should not depend solely on government funding. According to him, improved performance and visibility would attract corporate organizations and other private sponsors.
‎ The Commissioner assured the association of his support, expressing confidence in the capacity of his successor to reposition the sports. ‎
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Table Tennis Association, Farimoyo Abiola, said the association had commenced plans for a grassroots talent development programme tagged "Catch Them Young," aimed at discovering and nurturing athletes for future competitions.
‎ The event honored by the zonal representative also featured the presentation of an International Table Tennis Federation Level One Coaching Certificate to Iseh Chukwuebuka, as well as a National Umpire Certificate to one of the state's table tennis officials.
