2027: PUM Inaugurates Ebonyi Structure, Mobilises Support for Nwifuru’s Re-election ‎

The Polling Unit Mobilization for FON (PUM), has inaugurated its Ebonyi State Board of Trustees and liaison officers as part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for the re-election of Governor Francis Nwifuru in the 2027 governorship election.

‎ ‎The inauguration took place on Wednesday at Remeritona Hotels and Suites, Abakaliki, where the State Coordinator and Vision Bearer of PUM, Hon. Ogbuefi Zaccheaus Ifeuwabundidi, said the organisation would deploy its grassroots structure across the state to promote voter education, voter protection and increased voter turnout. ‎ ‎Ifeuwabundidi said the group’s decision to support Nwifuru’s re-election was based on what it described as the governor’s performance in infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, workers’ welfare, peace and security. ‎

‎According to him, “Our decision to mobilize for the re-election of His Excellency is not based on sentiment, but on verifiable performance and his sterling leadership anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs.” ‎ ‎He said PUM had established an expanded 62-member State Executive Council, alongside a Board of Trustees and liaison officers, adding that zonal, local government, community, ward and polling unit structures would subsequently be constituted across the state.

‎ ‎The coordinator said the organisation had also created directorates covering strategy and planning, security, inter-party affairs, medical services, media and publicity, contact and mobilisation, as well as monitoring and evaluation. ‎ ‎He disclosed that three Assistant State Coordinators would supervise PUM activities across Ebonyi North, Ebonyi Central and Ebonyi South senatorial zones.

‎ ‎Ifeuwabundidi said the organisation planned to embark on door-to-door, farm-to-farm and market-to-market mobilisation across the state, noting that its activities would cover the 2,947 polling units in Ebonyi State. ‎ ‎“Our duty is simple: voter education, voter protection, and massive voter turnout for Governor Nwifuru in 2027,” he said. ‎ ‎He urged members of the newly inaugurated structures to remain disciplined, peaceful and law-abiding, while calling on them to regard their respective polling units as their primary constituencies. ‎ ‎The PUM coordinator also appealed to the Ebonyi State Government and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to provide operational vehicles and take-off funds to enable the organisation carry out its proposed grassroots mobilisation activities effectively. ‎ ‎He said the requested logistics would assist the group in taking the achievements of the Nwifuru administration to communities across the state ahead of the 2027 election. ‎ ‎Ifeuwabundidi further said PUM would work with relevant stakeholders, including electoral and security agencies, labour unions, professional bodies, traditional rulers, market women, youths and other community organisations, to promote peaceful participation in the election. ‎ ‎Earlier,the Ebonyi State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, (APC) Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha appreciated the support group for their tenacity and for believing in the party, and described the name as to align with the core mandate of the party to mobilize all members at various pulling unit to vote massively for the party. ‎ ‎While asking his view on opposition political parties viability to contest in the forthcoming general election, Nwaze described those challenging the ruling government as content creators who are building brand through noise. ‎ ‎ ‎Also, the member representing Onicha East State constituency in the State Assembly,Hon. Celestine Ogba and Dr.Odoh, Chairman EBSMEDA reeled out achievements of governor Nwifuru in both education, health, business and enjoined Ebonyians to continue supporting the governor for the growth of the state.
