Ezeukwa Coordinator Empowers Staff, Stakeholders With 16 Motorcycles

The Coordinator of Ezeukwa Development Centre in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Hon. (Mrs.) Caroline Ogbu Chijioke Nnemdi, has empowered members of the centre’s Management Committee, stakeholders and indigent widows with 16 brand-new motorcycles and other items. Nnemdi made the presentation on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Development Centre Secretariat, Ezekporoke, saying the initiative was aimed at supporting her staff and other beneficiaries with means of mobility and other forms of assistance. She said eight of the motorcycles were presented to members of the Management Committee, while another eight went to selected stakeholders. Indigent widows also received wrappers, buckets, detergents and undisclosed cash.
The Coordinator commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for what she described as his administration’s developmental interventions in Onicha, including overseas scholarships, political appointments and infrastructural projects. She said the empowerment programme was designed to demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of people at the grassroots, adding that similar initiatives would be undertaken in the future to accommodate more beneficiaries. Representing the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Stephen Uchenna Igwe, the Commissioner for Inter-Party Affairs, Hon. Philip Ogbonnaya Okorie, described the initiative as an extension of the dividends of democracy to rural communities. Okorie said empowering people at the grassroots would give them a greater sense of belonging and encourage them to participate actively in democratic processes. Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Onicha LGA, Hon. Easyworld Okike-Uzor, who represented the Commissioner for Special Duties and Focal Person, Ebonyi State in Diaspora, Rt. Hon. Valentine Okike-Uzor, commended the Coordinator for replicating the governor’s leadership style at the community level. The Chairperson of the occasion and Secretary of Rural Electrification, Ebonyi State, Princess Nnenna Egbo, also praised the initiative, describing it as a practical demonstration of democracy dividends. The Traditional Ruler of Onicha Igboeze Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Ferdinand Okoronkwo Nwujor, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items, while encouraging the Coordinator to sustain the initiative. President of Onicha Development Union, Mr. Daniel Igodo, described Nnemdi as one of the most performing coordinators, citing projects including the construction of a bypass linking Onicha community to Ohaozara and other areas, grading of the Akanu/Eziga Road and a ₦1 million financial contribution towards the repair of a transformer. He appealed to the state government to consider her for reappointment. The President-General of Onicha Igboeze Town Union, Barrister Eze Ogbonnaya Eze, commended the Coordinator for extending development and empowerment to rural residents. Some beneficiaries, Mrs. Nnenwogo Ogbonnaya Obasi and Mrs. Ukpa Nwuzor, expressed gratitude for the gesture and appealed to those who were not included to remain patient. The event also featured the presentation of a public address system to the community, while the three-kilometre Ezekporoke/Anike bypass was commissioned by Chief Stephen Uchenna Igwe.
