Senator Ani Donates #2m, Food Items To Flood Victims In Akaeze

Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, Professor Anthony Ani, has donated two million naira and food items to victims of the recent flood disaster in Akaeze, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Senator Ani made the donation on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Development Centre Secretariat, Ugwu Agba, where he handed over the relief materials to the Akaeze Development Centre Coordinator, Barrister Chinasa Okorie. The lawmaker said the gesture was to identify with his constituents and expressed concern over the extent of the flood disaster, which he attributed partly to human activities.

Senator Ani assured the victims that he would engage the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, for additional relief materials and would also raise the matter on the floor of the Senate. He called for collective efforts by government, individuals and other stakeholders to assist the affected communities, describing the scale of destruction as too massive for one person to handle.

Responding, the Development Centre Coordinator, Barrister Okorie, commended Senator Ani for his timely intervention and called on residents to support his re-election bid and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections. The Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area, Hon. Michael Enyim, described the flood as unprecedented in his lifetime, noting that it affected homes, farms, livelihoods and movement within the community.

The Village Chairman of Amaegbu, Umobor Akaeze, Mr. Abia Okoro, also appealed to the State and National Emergency Management Agencies, SEMA and NEMA, for more assistance to the victims.
