Translate Workshop Knowledge Into Purposeful Leadership, Ebonyi ALGON Chairman Charges

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ebonyi State chapter, and Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Hon. Helen Nnenna Aduga, has charged council chairmen and other local government officials to translate the knowledge gained from a three-day capacity-building workshop into purposeful leadership and improved service delivery.

Aduga gave the charge at the end of the workshop organised for council chairmen, vice chairmen and other key officials of the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State. The workshop, which commenced on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, was flagged off by the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

It exposed participants to critical issues in public-sector administration, financial management, accountability, transparency, security, anti-corruption measures and other aspects of effective local government administration.

Speaking at the conclusion of the programme, the ALGON chairman commended Governor Nwifuru for prioritising capacity development and strengthening the ability of grassroots leaders to effectively manage public resources. She said the knowledge and lessons acquired during the workshop should translate into concrete actions across the 13 local government areas, particularly in improving service delivery, responsiveness to citizens and grassroots development.

Aduga said, “As the council leaders return to their respective local government areas, the expectation is that the knowledge, guidance and insights gained from the workshop will be translated into purposeful leadership and measurable impact across the grassroots.

“At a time when many leaders are preoccupied with re-election strategies, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and Ebonyi State ALGON remain committed to governance that prioritises better service to the people.”

She urged the council leadership to remain focused on their responsibilities and ensure that the benefits of the training are reflected in tangible improvements in the lives of residents across the state.
