--Ceasefire, Embrace Peace,Igbeagu Stakeholders Charge Warlords

  THE stakeholders of Igbeagu community in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State on Saturday 11th August, 2018 have in a town hall meeting held at Nguji Ogbodo primary School directed all the aggrieved persons of the area to join hands in ending hostilities as both States government of Ebonyi and Cross River are on offing to put an end to the boundary dispute.
  This is following the directive issued to representatives of the warring communities of Ukelle and Igbeagu at Port Harcourt,River State by the two States governors who in ten points communique raised,resolved to end the hostilities among the two sisters States which lingering boundary issue had cost many lives and property.
    Addressing the over two thousand displaced persons, the traditional ruler,Igbeagu community, HRH,Eze Ogbonnaya Michael Ukwa stated that their coming was to sensitive the aggrieved victims of the communal clash to shealth their swords.
  Also,he briefed them on recent meeting held by Ebonyi State governor ,Chief David Nwaeze Umahi and that of Cross River counterpart,Prof.Ben Ayade where both states Chief Securities ordered the people of Igbeagu community and Ukelle in Yala LGA to end the hostilities as they are putting all the necessary measures to bring lasting solution to the disputed land boundary.
   In a statement made available to the public, the stakeholders ordered the people to embrace the peace initiative as had resolved by the two states government,advising them to remain law abiding so as to attract government presence to the area.
   They noted that the only way to get peace was to embrace it,stressing that peace is paramount to societal development as nothing positive would be seen in a conflict area.
     An elders Statesman, Chief J.N Nwenyi,hinted that "war is an ill wind which blows no one any good",noting that two parties who engaged in war always end as losers as nothing they could gain could be compared to their lost resources.
    He commended the people for turning out en mass,maintaining that they had taken into account the positive steps taken by both States and federal governments to stabilized peace among the two communities, charging the people to cease all forms of actions to find an available and lasting solution to the boundary land.
  In their reaction, Chief Anthony Nwazunku,Ndegede Village Head,who bemoaned that he lost his first son who was a Jambite during the period of the crisis appreciated the intense effort taken by the State government, assuring the Stakeholders of the people abiding by the government directive.
Another victim, Mrs.Monica Nkwegu promised to take the message home and among IDPs whose members were unable to attend the meeting do to the distance and other factors beyond their control.
  She however, appealed to government support as many victims have resort to sleeping in an open roof and school field as their homes have already be taken by their rival,whereas, they faced both hunger and their children go with naked body as there's no cloths to wear.
  The meeting was attended by retired Assistant Inspector of Police,Kelvin Opoke,Former Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, Prof. F.I Idike,Chief Nwakpu,State Coordinator FADAMA111,Engr.Ibaki among others.
