Corp Member, 9 Others Escape Death,as Lawmaker's Fence Collapse on Building

It was a moment of shock and disbelief for the residents of No.10 Obike street, Abakaliki town in Ebonyi State on Wednesday night, 29th August, 2018 during the heavy downpour,when a fence of building belonging to State House of Assembly member representing Onicha West,Hon.Valentine Okike collapsed on two bedroom apartment.
  The residents who are two families numbering about ten minutes including serving corps member in the two bedroom flats were said to have pass their night with their neighborhood as the entire side of the gate fell off during the heavy downpour and destroyed one parts of the building.
   Narrating the ugly experience, one of the survivors, John Okah stated that he was in his room and his family during the heavy rain when all of a sudden heard loud noise which prompted him to rush into his room only to discovered that parts of the fence had landed on his room and destroyed some parts of his room.
  He said, though,they had earlier seen that the fence has a crack which he had reported to the house owner but he promised to repair it as quick as possible but they were lucky that none of the family member was trapped.
   Another tenant, Nnadozie Peter described the incident as a big shock to him as he was sitting on a particular sofa the heavy blocks landed in his room but was lucky to had gone to watch football match when the scenario took place.
  Mr.Nnadozie said,he was in the room with his cousin who is a serving Corps member and they were sharing one sit gisting before he decided to go watch football matches,but getting there began to feel uncomfortable which led him to returned back to his room and met his room in Disbelief.
   He said that his room was badly affected and property destroyed as some blocks pierced through the window and landed at the exact point they were sitting.
   Mr.Nnadozie thanked God for saving both families who later that night pass their night  at neighbouring room,appreciated the honourable member for switch action he has taken in reconstructing his own fence as he promised to repair their own damages.
  In an interview, Hon.Okike described the incident as natural phenomenon which was a surprise to everybody, promising to ensure both families did not sleep outside their room again as he would do everything within his reach to make sure the house was quickly repaired to give those family the shelter they deserved.
