Trigger-Happy Federal Lawmaker Shoots Teenage Boy in Ebonyi

     By Our Reporter

Abakaliki-A happy-trigger Federal Lawmaker representing Ikwo/Ezza South constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Lazarus Ogbee, has allegedly shot a teenage boy, Maduabuchi Nwankwo at his country home in Ebiaji-Amaezekwe community in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.

The Lawmaker who is notorious for carrying gun around was alleged to have shot the boy who was on a visit to his compound, shattering his genital with bullets.

The victim hails from the same community with him. Ogbee was alleged to be parading a cocked pump action gun when the incident occurred.

Ogbee was alleged to have personally rushed the boy to the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA, where it was reportedly confirmed after medical examination that his testicles have been shattered by the bullets.

It was gathered that after about three days the boy was admitted in FETHA, the Lawmaker requested for his discharge which was quickly granted by the hospital management as he was said not to be responding to treatment.

The Lawmaker is currently pursuing his reelection to the green Chambers.

He was thereafter transferred to an undisclosed hospital in Calabar, Cross River state for further treatment.

It was also gathered that part of reasons why the Lawmaker took the boy out of Ebonyi state for treatment was to ensure the secrecy of the incident was not jeopardized.

But the people of the village who were angered by the incident called for a meeting where they resolved to invite the Lawmaker to explain why he should always be involved in shooting; recalling that the lawmaker had in 2014 allegedly shot dead one Mr Michael Idoor, at the eve of 2015 general elections.

Some of the Villagers it was gathered are already accusing the Lawmaker of being ‘diabolical’ since according to them,  it was about the same period in 2014 when he was consulting for his ambition to represent the constituency in the National Assembly that he allegedly killed the late Mr. Idoor.

In quick response to counter the Villagers, the Lawmaker was said to have gone to police to make a report that his community was plotting a communal war against Amana, their neighbouring community.

The police, it was gathered, is now leveraging on the allegation from the Lawmaker to monitor the Villagers closely for any break down of law and order.

Multiple Sources from the village who spoke with our Reporter alleged that the Lawmaker has been threatening to deal with anyone from the community that dare make the shooting alleged of Maduabuchi public.

Efforts to speak with the boy’s family was not successful as it was alleged that they were under pressure from the Lawmaker not to make the matter public. It was also gathered that the Lawmaker has allegedly refused to tell the boy’s family what truly happened to their son.

According to a Source, the Lawmaker is alleged to be claiming that it was his security aide who allegedly shot a gun that wounded the boy when truly he was the person who allegedly shot the boy himself but wants to use his security aide as a cover.

Repeated calls to the Lawmaker’s mobile phone was not answered. He however, reacted to a text message sent to his mobile phone by Reporter saying “there was no shooting in my residence please”.

When contacted, the state Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Loveth Odah, said she was not yet aware of the matter but promised to ascertain from the Command’s criminal investigation department and get back to our Reporter.

But efforts to reach ASP Odah again at press time was not successful as repeated calls to his mobile phone was not answered or returned.
