The over two thousand victims of communal clash in Igbeagu community, Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State have warned the entire National and State Assembly members Representing the area to count them out of their votes come 2019 general election.
According to the aggrieved victims who spoke in coarse voice and pale faces groaned that since the unfortunate incident befell them, all the elective office holders of the area among who are the Senator representing Ebonyi North,Dr.Sam Egwu,Chief Sylvester Ogbaga,House of Representative Member representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency and Hon.Anthony Onyibe Nwegede,State Assembly member representing Izzi East have shown attitude of negligence, leaving them to die to their fate, hunger and diseases.
One of the angry victims, Mr.Nwankwoagu Dome, lambasted the Honourable members who he claimed he fought to protect their votes to ensure they won their different positions at puling units only to ignore them at point of hunger and death.
He,however, lauded Ebonyi State Governor, Engr.David Nwaeze Umahi for his unrelenting spirit habited since the renewal of the communal clash and his swift action displayed within few days he returned from his foreign trip.
Addressing our reporter, while many of them were struggling to get their voice recorded, hinted that if Journalists still represent the voice of common man,our reporter should not fail to air their grievances, maintaining that the only period the people see those who claimed to be representing them would be electioneering time when they would disguise as saints to steal their mandate and would never visit them till the four years time ends.
They lamented that such act does not show that they have representatives in both State and National Assembly like their rival Ukelle people whose House of representative members have cried during plenary, soliciting for more effort to be intensified and cushion the crisis effect on her people and even go in long way to ask for help to send food to them, whereas, those representing them are busy pursuing tenure elongation.
The group further stated that action of their representatives did not make them angry in any form as God still protect them even when those they had elected rejected them at a point of hunger and starvation since the conflict broke as if they were the cause, hence, would outpour their anger when any of the elected officers would come to their villages or send representative in the name of canvassing and possibly to get their votes.
The angry mobs reiterated that such campaign may never hold in their villages for upcoming election as they had concluded that the affected villages do not have such representatives in government, stressing that the people have faced perpetual hunger since the war broke out,and pleaded with the state Governor to add more effort to ensure the land boundary demarcation is done, as well, called for transparent and fair carrying of duty by soldiers at the conflict zone.
