IPoB Sit-at-home: Partial Compliance Hits Ebonyi

From Nwogha Ndubuisi, Abakaliki There's partial compliance to the order of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPoB, in Abakaliki town on Tuesday as vehicles and some shops were open for business.

Our correspondent who went round the town reports that vehicles were in operation in the busy part of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Speaking with Mr Johnson Nwabe, a tricycle rider told us that the partial compliance to the order was due to government failure as there's fear that there would be no enough security to protect citizens if they defiled the directive.

Nwabe who said that he has confidence on the detained Mazi Nnamani Kanu that his release and giving him the Biafra nation would salvage the plight of his people appealed to president Muhammad Buhari to intervene for the court to grant him bail. He explained that most Nigerians had lost trust in the ongoing Buhari administration and added that the level of impunity and killing in the country has made it uncomfortable to her citizens. He noted that his coming out was not to challenge the order of Sit-at-home as that's the only avenue to show concern to the incaserated IPoB leader and pray that the government hearkened to the people's demand for his unconditional release.

Another phone repairer at Abacha round about told our correspondent that people obeyed the order out of frustration they're facing in the country which placed the people of South East as second hand citizens and urged the federal government to intensify effort to listen to the aggrieved group as to address their demands. Also, Mr Alex Nwibo, a stranded passenger lamented that the Sit-at-home order have affected business activities in the zone.

Alex who blamed unemployment among the youths and insecurity as the major challenge facing the zone called on government at all levels to put up measures to rebuild trust among the citizens. Our correspondent reports that there were vehicular movement whereas schools, filing stations and major vendors and eateries in the capital city were completely shutdown as at the time of filing this report.
