Kanu's incarceration: Ohaneze youth seek retired generals intervention

From Nwogha Ndubuisi, Abakaliki
Apex socio-cultural youth organization, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has called for Igbo retired major generals to intervene in the prolonged incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). According to press statement issued and made available to Aljazirah Correspondent by the national President, Comr. Igboayaka O Igboayaka appealed to the retired major generals to intervene on Kanu's tactic incarceration. Igboayaka who recounted on the perils of the Nigerian nation since 1966 till date regretted that peace had apparently eluded Nigeria "as a result of injustice and marginalization against Biafrans, and Ndigbo in general. He further emphasized that "there's no shortcut to peace except through justice, fairness and equity among the various ethnic nationalities or geo-political zones in the country.
Reacting to the long imprisonment of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Igboayaka said: "Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB represent the injustice against Ndigbo since 57 years, and such injustice and marginalization sprung up from the agitations of MASSOB, IPOB and other self-determination groups in the Biafra territory. The youth leader, therefore, urged Lt. Gen.Obiako, and other retired major generals of Igbo extraction to as a matter of urgency, mobilize and collaboratively work with the President-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor, in order to procure a lasting solution to the protracted confinement of Kanu. He, however, expressed utter dissatisfaction over the seemingly failure of Igbo elders in inculcating sound discipline in the youths, which he wailed had resulted in the latter taking to enforce their freedom, inspite of all oddities. Speaking further, the aggrieved Igbo youth leader, in his passionate appeal, called on all Igbo who had at some point, served as Generals in the Nigerian Army, embark on a peace talk with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari, to expedite the release of Kanu.
