Election: Group Advocates For Peace In Ebonyi

Following the uprising litigations and protests in various parts of the country associated with the outcome of the general elections, a Civil Society Organization, (Peace For Free) has urged the youths in Ebonyi State to embrace peace beyond the elections.
Mr. Chris Kalu, the founder of the organization while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, said it became imperative to talk to the youths as a proactive measure to avoid post-election violence. According to him, "This series is meant for the young people who have devoted their time to cast their ballots and at the end of the day they are expressing displeasure over the outcome of the exercise. “Which is contestable, because it is alleged that there is a sort of malpractice; there is an atmosphere of distrust, and there are tendencies that if it’s not checked can generate chaos”. he said. However, Professor Anthony Igyuve, Department of mass communication, Nasarawa State University is the resource person at the lecture series held at Akanu Ibiam International Conference Center in Abakaliki on Tuesday. Also in attendance was a veteran Nollywood actor, Joyce Kalu, who maintained that peace is not negotiable and commended the Organizers of the event for its timeliness. The Veteran Actor appealed to youth to embrace the teaching shared during the event and added that it is only on peaceful atmosphere that development thrives.
