Ohaukwu stakeholders set to tackle social vices

The stakeholders of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have resolved to work together in tackling insecurity and other social vices in the area. The Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Chief Chinedu Onah made the statement immediately after their close door meeting at the Legislative Complex Nkaliki. In an interview, Rt. Hon. Onah said that the meeting was primarily to express their strong determination to work with the government in place under the leadership of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in appreciation for aiding the victory of their elected sons and daughters and the appointment of some stakeholders into different positions in his administration. He also pledged to do all they can to ensure that the residents of the area embrace peace and unity. Chief Chinedu Onah commended the speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa for his support and critical role in ensuring that all parts of the state enjoy peace and tranquility. In his remarks, the member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly Hon. Pastor Eze Nwachukwu said that unscrupulous elements from the axis over the years have dented the area with bad names but warned to steer clear as they would be no opportunity for them to carry out their nefarious activities any longer. He categorically stated that anyone caught in the act would be made to face the anger of the security agencies of the state. In a similar vein, the chairman of the Council Prince Ikechukwu Odono, the Senior Special Assistant to State Governor on Power and Energy and Immediate past member representing Ohaukwu North State Constituency Hon. Chinedu Awo, as well as the Special Assistant to Governor on Youth Mobilization Comrade Paul Eze highlighted the challenges to the area to include; insecurity and unemployment among others and called for collaborative efforts to ensure that the challenges are mitigated. According to them, the over two years crisis between Effium and Ezza and that of Ngbo in Ebonyi State and Agila in Benue State was also deliberated on, promising to ensure that both the immediate and remote cause are unraveled and put to final end. The meeting had in attendance the commissioner for capital city development, Hon. Chief Sunday Inyima, Commissioner for Power Hon. Chief Peter Ogeali, the member representing Ohaukwu North Constituency Hon. Mrs. Esther Agwu, and member Anti-Corruption Commission Mrs. Kate Ugadu among others.
