Ebonyi/Cross River: CREBYPDM seeks Govt support on sustenance of peace

Ebonyi and Cross River Youth Peace Development Movement led by Barr Pascal Nwenyi has appealed for support for the sustenance of peace in border communities of both states. The group made the appeal at Okpoma, headquarters of Yala LGA, Cross River state during their visit to the Head of Local Government Administrator, Mrs Cecilia Ogah, on yesterday.
Addressing the Head of local government administrator, Barr Nwenyi applauded stakeholders from the cross River State border communities for their commitment to ensure that the peace accords signed by the two states are sustained noting that the group would continue to champion unity and progress of the states. Nwenyi who described youth as the major victims of the war called on the head of the council for support as they plan for the celebration of five years of ceased fire at the forty eight border communities of Cross River and Ebonyi State. He lamented that the affected communities have been highly neglected by government of the two states explaining that time is ripe for the affected communities to be absorbed by the either state.
Responding the Head of local government administrator, Mrs Cecilia Ogah commended the team for their sacrifices and pledged continuous support to ensure that they succeed in the enthronement of peace in the border communities. She recalled her ugly experiences at the heat of the communal war and tasked the group to extend the move to other council areas while promising to convey the message to the governor of the state. The traditional ruler of Eja community, Chief Alphonsus Agara, Comrade Paul Isha of Igbeagu autonomous community and Hon Isaac Okpokpo, representing Ukele community commended the group for their intervention and assured of their continuous support to bring permanent peace in the area. They however, enjoined all the youths and elders from the border communities to come together as to make the celebration of ceasefire a success.
