Ebonyi Govt trains 100 youth on advanced Agro businesses

In their strive to reduce unemployment and improve productivity among the youths, Ebonyi state government led by Francis Nwifuru has kicked off the training of one hundred youths into agriculture value chains.
The governor represented by state Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring,Mrs Ann Aligwe flagged off the training at Remeritona Hotel And Suites, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state on Tuesday,16th July,2024. . The two months program tagged: Flag off of 2024 Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru Empowerment Programme,FONEP targets to raise the youths into agriculture value chain in their different areas of interest as to combat restiveness and crime in the society.
Speaking, the state Commissioner for Human Capital Development, Mrs Aligwe said that participants selected from the 13-LGAs of the state would be trained for two months, thereafter, would be empowered based on area of interest. She added that the state government target is to make Ebonyi a hub of economy of the country come 2027.
She urged the participants to maintain orderliness during and after the training stating that the decision to groom them first with skills before monetary empowerment was to reduce the abuse of the opportunity.
On his part, a consultant and Chief Director of Master Skills Development and Service Farms,Mr Onyemauche Nwani enjoined the participants to be committed to the program as to encourage the state governor to train more citizens as in line with his people's charter of needs mantra. The executive director who lamented over the risen cases of joblessness and kidnapping among the youth thanked the state government for buying into the idea of skills development and urged other state governors to borrow into the scheme for onward development.
Some of the participants including Miss Nwibo Helen and Sochukwuma Enoch thanked the state governor, Francis Nwifuru for giving them the opportunity to be trained in agriculture value chain and promised to make the state proud. Our correspondent reports that the flag off was the pilot phase of the training as the Commissioner promised that the state government would continue with the training after the graduation of the first set.
