Ebonyi: Ex SGF, Labour Party gov'ship candidate dump party for APC

The erstwhile Secretary General of the Federation and Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim has dumped the People's Democratic Party, (PDP) for the ruling, All Progressives Congress, APC. Anyim defected officially alongside Arc Edward Nkwegu at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital during the APC grand finale of the local government area election.
The ex-senate President who defected with the former national Assembly members, state House of Assembly, 13-council chairmen, and ward councillors of the Peoples Democratic Party, former governorship candidate of the Labour Party,Arc Edward Nkwegu and thousands of his supporters and that of the All Grand Progressives Congress,APGA. In his speech, the former Secretary General of the Federation,Anyim said that the decision to joining the ruling party was orchestrated by the good governance of the state governor, Francis Nwifuru.
He commended the governor, Nwifuru for the unifying and examplary leadership enthroned in the system and enjoined all stakeholders in the state to continue supporting the ongoing administration. He equally appreciated the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress,led by Abdullahi Ganduje and the minister for works, David Umahi for building a united party.
The national president of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje commended the Ebonyi state governor, Nwifuru for providing enabling environment that collapsed all the opposition voices into the party. He described the former senate president,Anyim as a big win for the party and called on people of the region to embrace the All Progressives Congress in all states of the South East for even development.
The federal Minister for Works, Senator David Umahi appreciated governor Nwifuru for making Ebonyi a one party state and enjoined the Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma and Nwifuru to ensure that all leaders in south East are brought into the All Progressives Congress. He admonished all the citizenry to embrace the Renewed Hope agenda of president Bola Tinubu in the agricultural revolution to end hunger as known in Ebonyi on 'one man, one hectare'. Also, the Labour Party governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, Arc Edward Nkwegu who defected with his line up said that leaders in the state have resolved to unite and support the ruling party and assured of their sincere support to make the All Progressives Congress succeeds in Ebonyi.
