Nwifuru Declares 'Operation Feed Everybody', Distributes Inputs To Over 2000 Farmers

Ebonyi state governor, Francis Nwifuru has declared 'Operation Feed Everybody' in the state and distributed Agro inputs to two thousand nine hundred and sixty farmers.
The governor made the declaration during the official flag off of Agro inputs and assets distribution at the FADAMA office, Onuebonyi Junction Abakaliki on Thursday.
Nwifuru, represented by the Deputy, Mrs Patricia Obila said that farmers were carefully selected from the 13-LGAs in the state and added that the best way to end food insecurity is to empower rural and practical farmers.
The deputy governor noted that the programme which is FADAMA CARES Result Area 2 would be beneficial to two thousand nine hundred and sixty farmers as grants who are to access crop and livestock inputs.
She added that the programme would support rice and cassava farmers to produce maximally, stating that the plan is to ensure food sufficiency and enhance livelihood while improving standard of living.
She explained that the areas of intervention are where the state has comparative advantage over other crops and livestock production adding that the programme would rehabilitate existing feeder roads and carry out oil conversation measures such as erosion control and upgrading of existing wet markets to function safely.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture, and Natural Resources Mrs Nkechinyere Iyioku commended the state governor, Francis Nwifuru for what he's is doing in the ministry adding that the distribution which started today would run till weekend.
She further emphasized that the distribution has been scheduled to run for the three Senatorial zones on different days and maintained optimistic that individuals and cooperatives would be duly their items based on the already profiled and available data.
She admonished all Nigerians to go back to farm knowing that farming does not stop one from engaging in ones professional or carrier job so as to truly bring end to food shortage in the country.
The Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Anthony Nwegede called on farmers to take advantage of the Nwifuru's led government to make Ebonyi a food basket of the nation.
