Obasanjo Denies Discussing Release Of Nnamdi Kanu With South East Governors

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that at no time did he discuss the issue of releasing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, when he wet with South East Governors on Tuesday in Enugu, Enugu State.
Obasanjo said that he and Chief Emeka Anyaoku were invited to Enugu to discuss regional development issues and the purported plan release of Kanu by the Federal Government was not part of it. The ex-President in a press release by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Wednesday, insisted that the release of Kanu was not part of the agenda for discussion at the meeting with the South East Governors. He said that the regional development issues including security and infrastructure as well as economic and cooperative/collaboration, which was meant to complement the national economic development agenda were discussion made at the meeting. "The meeting with them was at my invitation and of Chief Emeka Anyaoku before their summit begins. The issue of Nnamdi Kanu was not on the agenda and was not discussed in my presence," Obasanjo was quoted as having said in the release.
