#EndBadGovernance: Gov Nwifuru Engages Youth Groups, Stakeholders, Labour Unions

....Insists on no protest in Ebonyi
Sequel to the raging national protest, Ebonyi state governor, Francis Nwifuru has hosted youth groups and various stakeholders on enlarged interactive meeting appealing to them to boycott the exercise in the interest of the state. Governor Nwifuru made the appeal at the first annual youths/stakeholders' summit held in Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki, the State capital. The Ebonyi state governor, Nwifuru said he is committed to the welfare of the people who overwhemingly voted him into office in the general election and assured them never to derail in all his political promises.
According to him, "I am committed to creating an enabling environment that allows you to thrive as Ebonyians. "As your Governor, I recognise the importance of youth development and we are working tirelessly to provide opportunities for education, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship". Nwifuru explained that the event was appropriate at the period when the youths are restive and confrontational in their demands for policies that would make them fulfill their life purposes. "We gather to listen, to learn and to collaborate. I want to hear your ideas, your concerns and your aspirations. We will work together to address the challenges you face to unlock your full potential." Also speaking, the minister of Works Sen. David Umahi explained that the planned protest is needless considering the efforts so far made by president Bola Tinubu to secure the future of the country. Umahi said, president Tinubu's administration has done a lot for Ebonyi State and appealed to youths to shun the proposed protest as there are alot other federal programmes which would be beneficial to them. On their part, the former governor of the state, Chief Martin Elechi, and former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim lauded the Tinubu-led Government and governor Nwifuru for working tirelessly towards providing basic infrastructures and social supports that aligns with the popular wishes of the vast majority in the state. Lending their voices, youth groups, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, women groups,organized Labour and various civil society Organizations appealed to Ebonyi youths not to participate in the planned nation wide protest. The groups in a motion disassociate themselves from the planned protest and pledged their support to President Bola Tinubu and governor Francis Nwifuru. Our Correspondent reports that the summit was attended by mMembers of the Youth Council, Organised Labour, Women Societies, Market Women, Ohaneze Ndigbo, FON Youth Movement and other youth groups including political leaders converged at the State Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki.
