3MMT: Over 1,600 Persons Have Been Trained On Technical Skills ~Ebonyi Community Manager

The Community Manager of 3 Million Technical Talents (3MTT), Ebonyi State chapter, Mr. Israel Okereke has disclosed that 1,662 persons had undergone trainings on technical skills comprising software development, data analysis and visualization.
It was gathered that 3MTT is an initiative of the Renewed Hope Agenda geared towards training three million Nigerian youths on technical skills involving production management and other related programmes.
We also learnt that the essence of the programme was to train people that will meet global standard technical skills to attract direct and indirect investments.
He disclosed this recently while addressing newsmen on the outcome of Ebonyi State 2024, 3 Million Technical Talents Input Summit in Abakaliki adding that his organization is targeting 2,000 people in the 3rd co-hunt.
According to him, the training was meant to transform crude means of doing things into technology capable of solving problems using tech acquired skills.
He also added that the programme was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for creation of direct and indirect investments.
“The available data on activities of Ebonyi State 2024, 3Million Technical Talents Input Summit shows that 444 persons were trained in the phase while 1,218 persons were trained in the second co-hunt.
“Notwithstanding, we are targeting 2,000 persons in the third co-hunt in an accelerated progression” he said.
Mr.Okereke also said that it was the expensive nature of the skills that prompted Federal government intervention for people to learn software engineering and other digital skills.
"The aim of the Federal government was to create job opportunities and train people that would be exported to other countries of the world" he added.
The Commissioner for Information Communication Technology (ICT), Ebonyi State, Hon. Uzor Tochukwu Okorie represented by his Special Assistant, Mr. John Obinna said that the initiative would not only bring technology to the grassroots but also enhance state government vision in building a smart city.
Some of the trainers, Mr. Justice Omaka and Mba Agha said that the exercise had yielded impressive result to the society.
"This acquired skills can provide solution to some of the identified crop diseases" they said.
A trainee, Mr. Charles Ayogu said that he could develop an application known as vehicle monitoring and identification system and appreciated the organizers.
Highlights of the events included presentation of N500,000 cash prize for the group trained on software for waste management while others were awarded one year scholarship and 6 months free data usage.
