NNL: Fans Protest Over Poor Performance of Abakaliki FC

The Nigeria National League has kicked off its second round in the ongoing season where Abakaliki FC welcome Khun-Khalifa FC of Owerri inside the mainbowl of Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium Abakaliki on a goaless draw.
This unimpressive performance of De Rice Boys in their home match has resulted to fans calling that quality strikers that would be able to score goal should be signed as well as valuable defenders to strengthen the defence of the team or alternatively seek the services of more experience coach. The team has so far secured one away draw and lost four to end the first round on sixth position on the log with ten points.
Reacting on the outcome of the match that ended on a barren draw irrespective of massive support by the team's supporters club and other fans who troupe out en mass to cheer them to victory, a fans who identify himself as Ogbonna Ezekiel express displeasure on failure of the team to improve after the break advising the enrollment of home grown players who understand the pitch in the team. Reacting to the development, the club's Chief Coach Ifeanyi Onyedika express sadness on the failure of the team to win the match after doing a lot of things including acquisition of two new strikers during the almost one month break to reverse the trend.
However, the General Manager of the club, Obinna Ogba who explain that the team are still facing the task of stabilizing properly following shot period in camp before competing in the league after acquisition few months ago reminds that employment of home grown players instead of core quality professionals in the round leather game is not the best option in football. Ogba who is the immediate past Senate Committee Chairman on Sports and a former Executive Committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation representing South East zone warned against gang up of fans to cause dissaffection appealing for patience from the teaming supporters assuring that the Abakaliki FC would deliver positive results henceforth.
