Ebonyi State Government Spends Over #500 Million Monthly on Business Empowerment~Commissioner Aligwe

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Mrs. Ann Aligwe, has disclosed that Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration spends over #500 million monthly to empower business enterprises across the state.
This is part of ongoing efforts to uplift micro and small businesses in line with the administration’s welfarist agenda, anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs manifesto. Mrs. Aligwe made this known while receiving the Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru Empowerment Programme (FONEP) Media Team at her office in the Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki. She highlighted numerous empowerment initiatives undertaken by the ministry, including youth training in modern agriculture and provision of start-up funds for beneficiaries. The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Governor for his commitment to rural community projects across the state’s 13 LGAs, which are set for commissioning soon.
Mrs. Aligwe also cautioned social media users and new media operators against misrepresenting the state, warning that it tarnishes the state’s image and undermines collective progress. In his remarks, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Comrade Henry Nworie, applauded the FONEP media team for promoting government activities, while condemning the spread of fake news. He urged media professionals to remain objective and responsible in their reportage, ensuring the media serves as a mirror and voice for the voiceless in society. Earlier, the FONEP Media Team Coordinator, David Ukah, emphasized the purpose of the visit was to strengthen partnership with the ministry and explore collaboration opportunities in human capital development, including capacity-building and skills development initiatives. Also speaking, the General Manager of EB-CSDA, Mr. James Iro, encouraged the team to continue showcasing the administration’s projects and achievements, particularly those under the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA). The visit was witnessed by management and staff of the ministry.
