Int'l Week Day: Ebonyi youth advocate tech-drive empowerment
The 2025 International Youth Week was flagged off in Ebonyi State, at pa Ngele Oruta Township stadium with a call for youths to leverage technology and partnerships to drive development and progress.
The event, themed, “Youths Advancing Multilateral Cooperation Through Technology And Partnership,” drew large crowds of enthusiastic youths who gathered to celebrate and discuss ways to harness their potential.
Comr. Nwakpu Onuora Omenyi, State Secretary and Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ebonyi State chapter, outlined the week’s activities, which include sensitization programs on voter registration, good governance tours, and skill acquisition training.
“We are moving from analog to digital, and our people should be trained to go into technology and partnership to gain more,” he emphasized.
He stressed the need for youths to adopt technology and partnerships to drive progress and development.
Comr. Nwakpu highlighted the importance of skill acquisition and empowerment, urging youths to look beyond white-collar jobs.
The good governance tour aims to showcase the state’s progress under Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s administration.
Scientist Abanaya, the Director of Health National Youth Council of Nigeria Ebonyi State also emphasized that a free medical outreach on sickle cell disease is planned for August 10, 2025, to promote health awareness among youths.
Dr. Nwankwo Onyinyechi, President-General of Ikwo Nnoyo Youth Consultative Forum, advised youths to find solutions to their problems rather than relying on government for support.
“We should adapt and thrive in the tech world,” he said, urging the government to focus on rural development and youth empowerment.
The event concluded with a call for continued support and participation from youths and stakeholders to make the week-long celebration a success.
