The wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Her Excellency, Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, has continued to attract admiration and goodwill from the people following her humanitarian gesture of building and donating a house to a widow in the state. The project, executed under the Better Rural Women Organization (BERWO), was described as both symbolic and remarkable, especially for touching the life of a woman who, under normal circumstances, might never have had access to the First Lady.
Speaking during the event, the executive chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Barr. Stephen Emenike Nwankpa expressed deep appreciation to the First Lady for her uncommon kindness and consistent concern for the less privileged, the vulnerable, and the downtrodden. He noted that her initiative has given hope to the hopeless and brought dignity to the widow who is now a proud homeowner. “We adore you because we clearly understand that your concern has always been for the hoi polloi, the have-nots, and the vulnerable in our society. What you have done today is remarkable and symbolic. You built a house for a widow who ordinarily would never have known the name of the governor’s wife, yet today she is a direct beneficiary of your generosity,” a community spokesperson said.
The Council chairman further pledged their loyalty and solidarity to the First Lady, describing her as a “daughter, wife, and mother” of both Izhi and Ikwo clans, adding that she has written her story in the hearts of the people. He also thanked the Governor, His Excellency, RT Hon Francis Nwifuru for his numerous interventions through BERWO, including medical bill payments, critical surgeries, and educational sponsorships for Ebonyi indigenes at home and abroad.
“You have made the Government House a home not just for the high and mighty, but also for the poor and vulnerable who now have access to it, thanks to your open arms,” he declared. The people in their goodwill messages promised to host the First Lady at the Local Government Headquarters in appreciation of her philanthropy, while praying for God’s blessings upon the governor and his wife.
