Ebonyi Govt Begins Project Inspection Ahead of Independence, State Anniversary
As part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence and Ebonyi State’s 29th anniversary, the state government has commenced inspection of ongoing projects across various local government areas.
The Acting Governor, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, GCEHF, on Monday led a high-powered delegation of government officials to Ishielu, Ohaukwu, and Abakaliki LGAs, where 19 key projects were inspected.
In a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Acting governor, Comrade Ugochukwu Onwe, said that the exercise covered Ishielu LGA, where projects visited included a 22-classroom block at Girls High School, Ezillo; the 24km Ezillo–Ezzagu Road; Amaeze/Izzo Housing Estate and its internal roads; an ongoing duplex for His Royal Highness ,Eze Onichal Aloh at Okpalo Lokpo; and a new edifice at Central School, Ntezi.
At Ohaukwu LGA, the inspection team assessed ongoing classroom blocks at Unity Primary School, Amovu; a duplex for HRH Eze Joseph Ozogbuo Okafor at Nsurrakpa Izhia; the 24km Umuogudu Oshia–Nigercem Road; 22-classroom blocks at Izhia Girls Secondary School, Ezzamgbo; the Industrial City project at Ezzamgbo; and new machines being installed at the Pipe Production Company.
Continuing in Abakaliki LGA, the team inspected the signature project at Vanco Junction; a 22-classroom block at Girls High School, Azuiyiokwu; 143 duplexes at Centenary City for public and civil servants; the 11.1851km Agbaja Unuphu–Ebia Unuphu–Nkaliki Unuphu Road; a 22-classroom block at Nkwegu Primary School; a duplex for HRH Eze Fidelis Nwonumaru at Amegu; and a 2km road at Amegu community.
Princess Obila commended contractors for their efforts but expressed concern over delays in some sites and urged them to accelerate work for timely completion and commissioning.
She further appreciated stakeholders and citizens for their support to the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, assuring that the government remains committed to delivering on its People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
However, the project inspection continues tomorrow in other parts of the state.
