Leadership Bickering: DUNC Urges Unity Among Ndieze-Echi Stakeholders

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED BY THE DIASPORA UNION OF NDIEZE-ECHI AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY Date: October 10, 2025 DIASPORA UNION OF NDIEZE-ECHI AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY WARNS STAKEHOLDERS AGAINST LEADERSHIP BICKERING
The Executive Members of the Diaspora Union of Ndieze-Echi Autonomous Community (DUNC) have expressed deep concern over the growing leadership disagreements among stakeholders in the community, stemming from kindred politicking between the Unwuera and Igbojima groups as purported by one Cajethan Njoku. The Union warns that such internal wrangling, often influenced by kindred affiliations rather than competence and merit, poses a serious threat to the peace, unity, and sustainable development of Ndieze-Echi Autonomous Community. In a statement jointly signed by the Union’s Diaspora Chairman, Comrade Chibuzo Oziogo, and the Secretary, Comrade Ogaga Christopher, the group urged all parties involved in the ongoing disputes to exercise restraint, embrace dialogue, and prioritize the collective interest of the community above personal ambitions. The Union further advised against airing internal matters on social media, describing it as counterproductive. Instead, it called for engagement with relevant stakeholders and traditional leaders through recognized dialogue platforms within the Izhi clan. According to the statement: “Let the arrowhead and divisive promoter of the said Unwuera kindred, Mr. Cajethan Njoku, reflect on the events of 2015 when he served as Coordinator of Ominyi Development Centre. After him came Mr. Moses Nwankwo, also of the Unwuera kindred, who equally served as Coordinator of Ominyi DC. "During the same period, Mr. Nwachukwu James, another Unwuera indigene, held the position of Town Union President, and nobody protested, since their emergence was based on popular vote, not kindred sentiment. "It is important to emphasize that the traditional institution, being a lifetime position, should not be juxtaposed with that of the Town Union President, which is a tenured office as stipulated in the community’s constitution. "Similarly, the position of the Community Youth President, by existing arrangement, is zoned to the Unwuera kindred. "Therefore, we urge all concerned to desist from dragging the Governor’s name into local community matters, as such actions are both unnecessary and misleading.” Reaffirming its commitment to supporting traditional institutions and constitutionally recognized community structures, the Union called on elders, opinion leaders, and stakeholders to intervene promptly and foster reconciliation among aggrieved parties. The statement also appealed to the youths and residents to remain law-abiding and resist being used as tools of division, stressing that peace remains the only path to lasting development and prosperity. The Diaspora Union reiterated its unwavering commitment to unity, transparency, and progress, and pledged to continue collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure that Ndieze-Echi Autonomous Community remains a model of peace, order, and development. Signed: Chief Chibuzo Oziogo Chairman, Diaspora Union of Ndieze-Echi Autonomous Community Comrade Ogaga Christopher Secretary, Diaspora Union of Ndieze-Echi Autonomous Community Chief Aloy Ophoke Chief, Ndieze-Echi in Lagos
