Nwifuru, Umahi Families Cement Age-Long Bond Through Marriage

It was a heartwarming celebration filled with love, unity, and festivity as Miss Rebecca Nwifuru, younger sister to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, was traditionally joined in marriage to Mr. Silas Umahi, younger brother to the Minister of Works and former Governor of the State, Senator David Umahi.
The colourful traditional marriage ceremony, which took place at the palace of Chief Ezekiel Nwankpu in Oferekpe Agbaja, Izzi Local Government Area, drew a large crowd of dignitaries, friends, and well-wishers from across Nigeria. Among those in attendance were political leaders, traditional rulers, captains of industry, and community stakeholders, all gathered to celebrate and bless the union.
In his remarks, Governor Francis Nwifuru described the marriage as a divine arrangement ordained by God and devoid of external influence. He advised the couple to uphold love, unity, and mutual respect in their home while shunning third-party interference. The Governor pledged his continuous support for the couple and appreciated all those who graced the occasion despite their busy schedules. He also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to his rise to leadership and prayed for God’s blessings upon them.
On his part, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, expressed joy over the union, describing it as a testament to the long-standing friendship and cordial relationship between the Nwifuru and Umahi families. He prayed for God’s guidance upon the couple and assured them of his unwavering support as they begin their marital journey.
The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Godwin Ogbaga, lauded the event as not only the coming together of two individuals but also a reinforcement of community and family bonds within Izzi and Uburu people. He wished the couple a blissful and fruitful marriage.
The ceremony was marked by rich traditional rites, cultural displays, and an outpouring of goodwill as guests were treated to the renowned hospitality of the Izzi people.
