Ebonyi First Lady Changes Life of 6-Year-Old Dancer at Ngbo

A heartwarming moment at Ngbo Central School in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State turned into a life-changing encounter for a six-year-old boy, Chinonso Agbo, after his joyful dance during an official event drew the attention of the Ebonyi State First Lady, Chief (Mrs.) Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Power and Energy, Hon. Chinedu Awo.
The young boy, who had never attended school due to his family’s financial hardship, became the star of the day during the grand finale of the two-year stewardship and constituency project commissioning of the member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze. Captivated by Chinonso’s energy and enthusiasm, Hon. Awo, a former lawmaker, approached him and learned that the boy, who hails from a poor single-parent home, had never been enrolled in school. Deeply moved, he immediately donated ₦1 million to Chinonso and his mother to support his education and improve their living conditions.
Speaking to journalists after the event, Hon. Awo explained the motivation behind his spontaneous act of kindness: “I saw the boy dancing throughout the event, and something in me said I should bless him. When I asked if he was in school, he said he had never attended one. I decided to support him and his mother with ₦1 million to help him start school. I believe it was his spirit that brought me here today.”
The emotional scene took an even more uplifting turn when the Ebonyi First Lady, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event, pledged to build a new house for the boy’s family, expressing her resolve to transform their living conditions. In her remarks, Mrs. Nwifuru emphasized that her intervention aligns with her broader mission of empowering vulnerable families across the state. “Empowerment is the foundation of sustainable development. When you empower a person, especially a woman or a child, you are not only improving one life but transforming an entire community. This child’s story reminds us that compassion and opportunity can truly change lives,” she said. The event also featured the commissioning of a fully furnished and equipped ultra-modern hospital at Ekwashi Ngbo, facilitated by Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence between the Ngbo and Agila communities in Ebonyi and Benue States. In his address, Pastor Eze highlighted his major achievements over the past two years, including infrastructural development, scholarship schemes, agricultural empowerment programs, and legislative efforts toward establishing a Federal University of Environment in Ebonyi State. He reaffirmed his commitment to transparent and people-centered representation, stating that his focus remains on projects that “directly touch lives and bring government closer to the people.” The touching encounter between the First Lady, the governor’s aide, and the young dancer has since drawn widespread admiration from residents, who described it as a reflection of the compassionate and people-oriented governance currently shaping Ebonyi State.
