…Clarifies He Resides in the U.S., Not the U.K. Former Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is alive and in good health despite widespread rumours circulating on social media alleging his death.

His former Commissioner for Information, Mr. C. Don Adinuba, dismissed the reports on Friday, describing them as false, misleading, and capable of causing undue panic. Adinuba explained that he personally spoke with the former governor and can confirm that Obiano is “hale and hearty” and currently residing in the United States, contrary to an online publication claiming he lived in the United Kingdom. “Obiano has never lived in the United Kingdom. He lives in the United States of America. I just spoke with him now,” Adinuba stated. He urged the public to disregard the rumours, noting that such unfounded claims could cause unnecessary distress to Obiano’s family, associates, and the people of Anambra State. Chief Willie Obiano served as governor of Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, succeeding Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Born on August 8, 1955, Obiano hails from Aguleri in the Anambra East Local Government Area.
