Indigents Care Foundation Boosts Security, Donates 32-Rooms To Police, Ministry of Education In Ebonyi

A non-governmental organization, Indigent Care Foundation, has donated an 18-room building with seven lock-up shops to the Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State Command, as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and enhance the protection of lives and property in the state.
The donation and handing over was formally done at Abarigwe Ishieke, the country home of Justice Lazarus Nwuzor. Speaking during the ceremony, the founder of the foundation, Professor Adaeze Nwuzor, said the initiative was aimed at supporting security agencies to effectively discharge their responsibilities while promoting peace and safety within the community.
Professor Nwuzor also disclosed that the foundation donated 32 room for teachers’ quarters to the Ebonyi State Ministry of Education in support of Abarigwe Technical College, Ishieke, to improve teachers’ welfare and productivity, particularly those who commute daily from Abakaliki.
She stressed the foundation’s commitment to education, skill acquisition, and gender inclusion, noting that Indigent Care Foundation has empowered both male and female children without discrimination since its inception in 2009. “If you train a woman, you train a nation. Education, skills, and security are the pillars of community development. Through our Indigent Care Programme, we have secured NAFDAC approval for the production of items such as soap and Vaseline, underscoring the importance of skill education alongside formal schooling".
Professor Nwuzor explained that the police facility, comprising 18 rooms and seven lock-up shops, was provided to strengthen security presence in the area, urging officers to intensify efforts in safeguarding lives and property.
Representing the Commissioner of Police, the Area Commander, Abakaliki Division, ACP James Ekpeta Agara, described the donation as rare and commendable, noting that it demonstrated genuine love and commitment to community development.
Also speaking, the Principal of Abarigwe Technical College, Mr. Ufuoh Ezekiel, said the provision of staff quarters would significantly enhance teachers’ punctuality and performance, expressing gratitude to the foundation for addressing a long-standing challenge faced by the institution. In his remarks, the traditional ruler of Egalegu Ishieke Autonomous Community, His Royal Highness, Eze John Igboke, commended the foundation’s founder for her consistency in humanitarian service and contributions to community development.
Some bursary beneficiaries, including Mr. Echezonachi Mathew and Miss Catherine Nweze, students of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), thanked the foundation for its support and pledged to emulate such acts of generosity in the future. Earlier, a guest speaker, Dr. Emmanuel Ogbaga, admonished Izhi youths to embrace skill acquisition as a means of reducing unemployment. He warned against political touting and the misuse of social media, noting that many youths have been misled into unproductive activities that waste their future. The event also featured the official handover of the building documents, distribution of food items to widows, orphans, and persons living with disabilities, as well as cultural dance display by Ishieke women, adding colour and excitement to the occasion.
