Tears Of Gratitude As Ebonyi Commissioner Builds House For Loyal Aide
In a rare display of humility and compassion, emotions ran high at Ebia Unuhu, Ebonyi State, as Mr. Henry Nwambam knelt in gratitude while receiving the keys to his new home from his employer, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Finance, Prof. Leonard Chukwuma Uguru.
The modest bungalow, personally built by the commissioner, was formally handed over to Nwambam his Personal Assistant of over two and a half years as a reward for loyalty, dedication, and selfless service.
The heart-warming gesture drew admiration from community members and invited guests, many of whom described it as a shining example of leadership with a human face.
Delivering a brief homily at the event, Rev. Fr. Jude Agama of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Nkwegu, urged young people to remain faithful, humble, and hardworking in their places of service.
He noted that while rewards may come at different times, diligence and integrity never go unnoticed.
Speaking during the presentation, Prof. Uguru explained that the house was built to help his aide begin a stable and independent life.
He disclosed that Nwambam, who lost his father, had been living with his mother in the village, adding that the support was necessary to improve his welfare and enhance his efficiency at work.
“This is to help him move closer to town, work more effectively, and also to support him to start life properly, build a family and grow,” the commissioner said, while praying for peace, unity, and progress in the new home.
Prof. Uguru further revealed that similar gestures of support are being extended to other aides, stressing that true leadership should focus on lifting others and creating opportunities for growth.
The philanthropic act has continued to attract widespread commendation, reinforcing Prof. Uguru’s reputation not only as a seasoned technocrat, but also as a compassionate leader committed to empowering people and helping others rise.
