APC Chairman Consoles Family of Slain Ebonyi Monarch, Says Killers Won’t Escape Justice

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, has assured that those responsible for the abduction and killing of the traditional ruler of Ndufu-Alike community, HRH Eze Francis Igwe, will not escape justice.
Okoro-Emegha gave the assurance on Saturday when he led members of the party’s state executive on a condolence visit to the monarch’s palace in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state. The slain monarch was the father of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Barr. Kelechi Igwe. Describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable, the APC chairman said the party stands firmly with the state government in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book.
“No sinner will go unpunished. As a party, we will continue to support the position of the governor and stand by whatever decision he takes to ensure justice is served,” he said. He urged the bereaved family and the people of the community to take solace in God despite the painful loss, noting that the late monarch’s death was a tragedy not only to Ikwo people but to the entire Ebonyi State.
Responding on behalf of the palace, the Palace Secretary, Dr. Johnson Aloh, appreciated the APC leadership for the visit, describing the party as one that stands for good governance and the progress of the state. Aloh said the presence of the party executives had given the royal family and the community hope in the face of their grief.
He also urged continued efforts to rid the state of criminal elements seeking to tarnish Ebonyi’s image, stressing that the state had moved beyond the era when it was negatively perceived among its peers. “We are taking solace in God whose will cannot be questioned, believing that our father is now resting in the bosom of the Lord,” he added.
