‎ ‎A large number of members of the Amanato Ezeukwa Development Union (ADU) have endorsed the re-election bid of the Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, Senator Professor Anthony Okorie Ani, for a second term. ‎ ‎The endorsement was made on Sunday, August 9, 2026, during the union’s bi-monthly meeting in Abakaliki, where members adopted Senator Ani as their consensus candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections. ‎
‎Speaking at the meeting, the Abakaliki Branch Chairman of ADU, Dr. Ogbonnaya Uzor, described the gathering as fruitful, saying the union would mobilise and sensitise eligible voters across its area in support of the senator. ‎ ‎He said, “Since the Senator is our brother, as a union, we have a big role to play in his second-term ambition. We will not only mobilise people but also sensitise every eligible voter in our area for his re-election.” ‎ ‎Uzor urged members to take the lead in educating constituents on the need to support the senator, stressing that “charity begins at home.” ‎ ‎He also called on eligible voters to keep their Permanent Voter Cards ready, following the emergence of Senator Ani as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the senatorial election. ‎ ‎Also speaking, the Legal Adviser of the APC in Onicha Local Government Area and Vice Chairman of the union, Barrister Stephen Amaechi Agbafor, said the endorsement followed an assessment of Senator Ani’s performance and representation. ‎ ‎Agbafor listed the facilitation of 49 federal appointments for constituents and infrastructural interventions among the senator’s achievements, saying he had demonstrated fair and equitable representation. ‎ ‎“Based on the analytical study of his representation, we have no other choice than to pass a vote of confidence in him. His emergence as senator was divinely ordained, and I believe that, by the grace of God, victory will be ours in the 2027 general election,” he said.
