Ebonyi LG Poll: Nwifuru Casts Vote, Predict Landslide Victory For APC ‎

‎ ‎ ‎Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win all chairmanship and Councillorship seats in today's Local Government Area elections, and commended voters for the peaceful conduct of the exercise after casting his vote.
‎ ‎Gov Nwifuru stated this shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit in Oferekpe Agbaja, Izzi Local Government Area. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎The governor, who is the APC leader in Ebonyi, described the election as a democratic exercise rather than a contest that should breed conflict, and urged voters to freely elect candidates of their choice. ‎
‎“The process is ongoing. It is not a war; it is an election. That is why I believe we don’t need to stress ourselves over voting for a candidate of our choice to become our leader. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎“There is nothing special about it other than allowing the people to select their candidates. Our party did that, and I believe other political parties also did the same,” he said. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎Nwifuru also said the presence of opposition parties was important to the democratic process, stressing that political opponents could help government identify its weaknesses and areas requiring improvement. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎“When you have opponents, it is not only about competition. They can also show you things you don’t know. Sometimes, you need opponents because they can expose your shortcomings and areas where you need to improve. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎On the likely outcome of the election, the governor said he remained committed to the APC and its candidates, expressing hope that the party would emerge victorious across the state. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎“Whether or not our party will win the election, my wish is for our party to win. I am a party man, and I believe in my party and all its candidates,” he said. ‎ ‎In an interview, the APC Chairmanship elect in Ezza South, Chinedu Mkpuma, his Ezza North counterpart, Friday Nwuhuo and Ebonyi Local Government, Chibueze Odigwe appreciated the turn out in their respective council and pledged to consolidate on their predecessors. ‎ ‎Meanwhile, our correspondent who monitored other polling units reports that the exercise was generally peaceful, and at the time of filing this report, collation of results was ongoing
