Gov.Nwifuru Charges New Board Members to Provide Strategic Leadership

‎ ‎ ‎Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has charged newly appointed chairmen and members of boards and agencies in the state to provide strategic leadership towards achieving the objectives for which their respective institutions were established. ‎
‎The governor gave the charge on Friday at his office in Ochoudo Centenary City, Abakaliki, while inaugurating the newly constituted boards and swearing in other appointees. ‎
‎The ceremony featured the inauguration of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha as Chairman of the Ebonyi State College of Health Sciences, Ezzangbo; Chief Chukwuma Charles Ofoke as Chairman of the Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency; and Hon. Alphonsus Nwali as Chairman of the Ebonyi State Library Board. ‎ ‎Others sworn in were Baron Enya Ogbonnia, Coordinator, Amasiri Development Centre; Obinna Oko Eyum, Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security in charge of Afikpo; Mrs Patience Gabby Idam, member of the Women Development Centre; and Nwokedi Amadi, member of the Pilgrims Welfare Board. ‎
‎According to a statement issued by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, Nwifuru said the reconstitution of the boards and agencies was aimed at strengthening their capacity to deliver on the vision and mandates for which they were established. ‎ ‎Speaking on the Ebonyi State Community and Social Development Agency, the governor said the agency was directly connected to the people-centred philosophy of his administration, stressing that its governing board was carefully constituted to advance the government's People's Charter of Needs agenda. ‎ ‎On the State Library Board, Nwifuru said his administration was determined to reposition libraries as centres of knowledge, research and intellectual development. ‎ ‎He expressed concern over what he described as the misuse of intelligence by some citizens, particularly youths, who resort to social media to attack political leaders, and said a properly equipped library would provide an alternative avenue for productive engagement and learning. ‎ ‎The governor added that strengthening the library system would help address moral and intellectual decline by keeping young people actively engaged in research, reading and learning. ‎ ‎At the College of Health Sciences, Ezzangbo, Nwifuru charged the new board to work closely with the institution's management to address security challenges confronting the college. ‎ ‎He also directed Baron Enya Ogbonnia, Coordinator of the Amasiri Development Centre, and Oby Oko Eyim, Special Assistant on Internal Security, to champion peace, security and social development in Amasiri, which he described as central to the administration's development agenda. ‎ ‎Nwifuru urged all the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering effective leadership and ensuring that their respective institutions contribute meaningfully to the development of Ebonyi State.
